o Healthy eating & active living
o Healthy relationships
o Personal safety
o Transition to grade 9
Program activities are developed to build self-esteem and confidence among the participants and to illustrate the links between young women and the community.
Program leaders work with campers to develop critical thinking skills in order that they may make informed choices, and discuss young women’s issues such as body image, peer pressure and sexism in a constructive and supportive manner.
This non-funded program is operated by Haldimand & Norfolk Women’s Services and couldn’t run without our many community volunteers & supporters.
Funding provided by an Ontario Trillium Foundation grant [2007-2010].
Girls will be taking part in the Ropes Course, women’s self-defense training and numerous interactive workshops and adventures based upon body image, peer pressure, media pressures and other issues related to girls.
All days the girls will be involved in indoor and outdoor activities regardless of weather.
We recommend weather appropriate clothing including hats, gloves, boots, etc. Girls are welcome to bring indoor shoes / slippers to wear inside.
